Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie

Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, officially the patron saint of Mirabella Imbaccari under the title of Lady of Graces, the church was built in the first half of the 17th century at the behest of Giacinto Paternò, son of the founder of the town.

After the earthquake of 1693 it was rebuilt, first in a small form, then enlarged in the first half of the 18th century.

The fires of 1850 and 1860 and the earthquake of 1908 seriously damaged the building, which was completely econstructed at the beginning of the 20th century.

In 1954, the stone statue of Our Lady of Graces with Child was placed in the window of the main façade.

The bronze panels that cover the main door, with scenes from the Old and New Testaments, date from the 1990s. with a basilica layout, the plan is a Latin cross with three naves.

The façade is preceded by a wide staircase that raises the church above the level of the neighbouring buildings.
