Church of Calvary

Also known as the Church “of the Mount”, this small building is located on one of the three hills that surround the city centre.

Its construction, in the absence of a specific date, dates back to between the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century, with original forms that are probably late Baroque and later remodeled.

Inside are the venerated statues of the Dead Christ in an 18th-century urn, Our Lady of Sorrows, St. John the Evangelist and St. Mary Magdalene.

In 1990 the church was restored by the faithful and provided with a new wooden door, the work of the master craftsman Antonio Guzzo, and a new painting depicting the Deposition from the Cross by Antonio Bertolino.
