Morgana Palace

Rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693 with stone from the Ducezio Castle, it is one of the most important civil buildings in Mineo.

The pre-existing palace belonged to the princely Buglio family, who lived there until the beginning of the 17th century, when Baron Morgana di San Nicolò took over the property.

The external walls are made of local stone with large exposed blocks.

The ground floor features windows with relief frames and carved decorations, while the first floor is distinguished by doors with large balconies.

The palace is described by Luigi Capuana in his novel “Il marchese di Roccaverdina” as the house of Roccaverdina: “On the side of the avenue that led up there, the house of the Roccaverdina had its entrance on the ground floor, while on the opposite side, the carved stone façade with three high floors rose above the poor plastered houses that surrounded it”.
