The Diocesan Library “Mario and Luigi Sturzo” is situated in the Monumental Complex of the Friars Minor
Conventual, which is the seat of the Diocese of Caltagirone. It is open to everyone.
Luigi Sturzo was one of the first librarians and he encouraged active circulation of books, as shown by the loan register, he signed during his tenure.
There are modern and contemporary works, manuscripts, incunabula, and works from the 16th and 17th centuries that are particularly valuable for their illustrations and typographic characteristics.
Of particular importance are the local and diocesan history section, the historical collection, which contains about 18,000 works published in Italy and Europe between the 16th and 19th centuries, and the rich archival and book collection of the “Mario and Luigi Sturzo Fund”, with numerous contemporary works and documentary materials still unpublished.
