Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie

The construction of the Mother Church, dedicated to Our Lady of Graces, lasted from 1836 to 1868, when it was inaugurated and opened for worship on January 12th.

In the same year the high altar was made in polychrome marble.

In 1873 the façade was rebuilt to a design by the architect Ignazio Margani and the bell tower was raised.

The canvas of the Mass of St. Gregory and of the Souls in Purgatory is the work of the workshop of the Vaccaro brothers from Caltagirone.

The building has a single nave and a rectangular hall, ending in a semicircular apse.

The nave is covered by a round barrel vault, while the apse has a dome roof enriched with decorative stuccoes.
