The date of the foundation of the church is uncertain, but it dates back to the second half of the 16th century.
Originally dedicated to St. Anthony, the Church of Santa Maria del Rosario (St. Mary of the Rosary) was completely renovated in the second half of the 18th century taking on today’s forms.
The bell tower was added in the 19th century.
The church has a single nave with a beautiful marble altar, statues and oil paintings.
Of particular interest is the fresco on the vault, painted by Salvatore La Spina in 1789, which depicts two angels offering the Madonna a wreath of roses. The black and white dog represents the Dominican Order and is an allegorical representation of hope. St. Vincent, with wings, and Lucifer can be seen in the background, watching with disappointment the sacred unfolding.
