Seat of the Bishop’s Palace from 1818 to 1868, the building was previously presented in a different form from the current one.
Federico Bubeo owned it, as recorded in a notarial deed from 1613. Later, it was merged with the adjacent Bonanno Rosabia Palace.
In 1818, Silvio Bonanno, Baron of Rosabia, rented the palace to Monsignor Trigona, the first bishop of Caltagirone.
In 1868, the notary Giuseppe Libertini purchased the building. Ten years later, architect Gesualdo Montemagno designed the formal unification of the various parts of the building and the external façades in a 19th-century style.
The Municipality purchased the building in 1980, and it now houses the Directorate of the “Luigi Sturzo” Civic Museums and valuable exhibition rooms.
