MACC – Contemporary Art Museum of Caltagirone

Housed in the Women’s Hospital, dating back to 1799 in the ancient Church of San Giorgio, since 1996 the museum has exhibited the most important works of the Caltagirone ceramist Gianni Ballarò, donated by his wife Carmela Pasqualino, and other collections of contemporary artists, some from Caltagirone and others from the rest of Italy and abroad.

The MACC – Contemporary Art Museum of Caltagirone houses works from the various editions of the National Exhibition of Ceramics organised by the Municipality of Caltagirone since the 1980s, to which have been added donations and acquisitions. The museum also has a rich specialised video library, a documentary and photographic archive, and a library.
